The number of people worldwide who have tested positive for Covid-19 rises to over seven million, according to calculations by the Reuters news agency. This is mainly due to significant increases in Brazil and India. The world has almost eight billion population.
The USA remains the most frequently affected country, with almost 1.9 million infections. The number of deaths rises to around 396,000, but it can be assumed that the actual figures are higher. For example, in some countries not all deceased people are tested for the virus or deaths outside hospitals are not counted. In some countries, official data can hardly be verified.
In the USA, the number of deaths caused by the virus has risen sharply for the second day in a row. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports 1128 new cases, bringing the number of confirmed deaths from Covid-10 to 108,064. The increase was 1035 on Friday, 827 on Thursday, 1045 on Wednesday, and 761 on Tuesday.
The number of newly infected persons is also increasing more significantly – by 29,034 to 1,891,690. 20,555 new infections were confirmed on Friday, 14,676 on Thursday, 24,955 on Wednesday and 14,790 on Tuesday.
343 people are currently (as of Saturday, 8 am) actively infected with Covid-19 in Austria. Within the past 24 hours, 55 new infections have occurred. 35 of these were recorded in Vienna.
