Today, most corona regulations will be lifted  – although the Covid-19 infections are rapidly increasing

Vienna – 01. July 2020 –  Experts are now also registering clear indications of a second corona wave in our neighbouring countries. In Austria, the infection figures are also slowly rising. There were 43 new cases on Tuesday, Vienna had by far the largest number with 27 cases. Health Minister Anschober does not yet regard the situation as threatening, but he criticises that the risk awareness of a “part of the population” has decreased. He appeals for minimum distance and hygiene regulations to be maintained even after the new relaxation: “Everyone longs for a beautiful summer – but please with responsibility”, he says. These relaxations are in place as of today:

Sports –  From now on every team and contact sport is allowed again: outdoor and indoor. However, attendance lists must be kept.

Gastronomy – The mask obligation for waiters and waitresses is abolished. Buffets with self-service in the hotels are again possible. In small bars it is again possible to sit and consume at the bar. Locals may open one hour earlier: at 5 am instead of 6 am.

Prostitution is allowed again, all brothels are open again.

Events –  As long as there are assigned seats, indoor parties with up to 250 people are allowed, outdoor parties with up to 500. For events with more than 100 people, “voluntary tracking” applies.

Entry –   Entry from 32 countries is allowed without testing. Among them are Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Spain and Germany with the exception of the district of Gütersloh.

Government emergency plan: return of the mask and regional lockdowns

If the corona case numbers in Austria show a constant linear increase, then the regulations will be tightened.

COVID 19 Emergency Plan if Corona figures increase

Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz warned in an  interview  aired via oe24.tv on Monday said that the populace  still need to wear masks. „If the development of the corona figures – a linear increase is decisive here – continues to deteriorate, the government has drawn up an emergency plan, the chancellor said.

Details:

The return of the masks –  Mouth and nose protection must again be worn in shops, restaurants & co.

Regional lockdowns –  Individual districts or cities can be quarantined.

Off for indoor events –  Events again with stricter rules – and only outdoors.

Green, yellow, red – the new Corona traffic light

A national corona traffic light stains domestic districts in traffic light colours according to the number of detected infections. Scientists from the Complexity Science Hub Vienna (CSH) have now designed this informative tool. It shows the number of positively tested cases per 10,000 inhabitants within the last 14 days: green means less than one new infection per 10,000 inhabitants. Yellow means one to ten infections per 10,000 and red means more than ten positive cases per 10,00 inhabitants.

Increase.

In Austria, the number of “positives” has already risen well above one in several districts: This applies above all to Linz, Wels and the surrounding area of these cities as well as St. Pölten and the district of Neunkirchen (Lower Austria). Vienna also remains “yellow”, as in the weeks before.

The visualization researchers Johannes Sorger and Wolfgang Knecht designed this app based on the worldwide corona case data from Johns Hopkins University. In turn, an international app shows that a “second corona hill” has already formed in some of Austria’s neighboring countries: “There the second wave is already there,” the researchers say. Countries such as Portugal, Bosnia or Poland are listed: “But there are also plenty of countries where a second wave is just around the corner”, say the researchers. They therefore warn: “In the next few days, Europe will almost certainly change a lot in the direction of ‘yellow’.
