The fourth Corona wave is ebbing, and after 8,033 new infections on Monday, there are 8,651 new infections in Austria from yesterday to today. This is below the past 7-day average of 13,066 conditions. The 7-day incidence is currently 1,027.55. One hundred sixty-eight thousand five hundred forty-five people are presently actively infected. This means that over four million positive tests, exactly 4,004,069 tests, have been registered since the beginning of the pandemic.In the past 24 hours, 122,680 PCR tests have been performed. That gives a positive rate of 7.05 percent. Forty-four people have died in connection with the Covid-19 infection. The pandemic has thus claimed 16,286 lives so far.
In the hospital, 2,487 infected people had to be treated across Austria on Tuesday, ten fewer than on Monday. One hundred ninety-two of them are being cared for in intensive care units. That is 14 seriously ill patients less than on Monday. Within the past week, the number of Covid-19 intensive care patients has decreased by 32.
Vaccinations
Nationwide, 2,162 vaccinations were administered Monday. Of those, only 108 were first-time shots. Over the past seven days, the total was just 1,068 first-time vaccinations. According to the E-vaccination passport data, 6,818,703 people have received at least one vaccination. Exactly 6,178,267 people, or 68.8 percent of Austrians, have proper vaccination protection.
