The German states report almost as many nine-infections to the Robert Koch Institute as a week ago. The 7-day incidence, however, decreases by 10 points compared to a week ago. The incidence of hospitalization increases slightly.

The 7-day incidence in Germany decreased for the sixth consecutive day. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week at 70.5. For comparison, the previous day the value had been 72.0, and a week ago 80.2.

Health offices in Germany reported 7337 new Corona infections to the RKI within one day. That’s according to figures reflecting the RKI dashboard’s 4:13 a.m. status. A week ago, the figure had been 7345 infections.

Across Germany, 38 deaths were recorded within 24 hours, according to the new data. A week ago, there had been 8 deaths. The RKI counted 4,142,116 proven infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The number of Corona patients admitted to hospitals per 100,000 population in a seven-day period was reported by the RKI on Friday as 1.89, up from 1.87 on Wednesday. A weekly or monthly comparison is not possible because of a high number of follow-up reports. A nationwide threshold for when the situation should be considered critical is not provided for the hospitalization incidence, in part because of large regional differences. The previous peak value was around 15.5 around Christmas time.

The RKI gave the number of people who recovered as 3,888,900. The number of people who died from or with the involvement of a confirmed infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 92,958.
