False messages about alleged refunds in the name of ÖGK have been sent out.
Fraudsters are currently contacting people in the name of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) with an alleged refund.
It was only in January that the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) warned against phishing emails. Now, false messages about alleged refunds have been sent out again in the name of the ÖGK.
The messages are sent by e-mail. The recipients are asked to open a link to request a refund online. “Hands off! These messages are an attempt at fraud,” warns the ÖGK. It urges its policyholders not to respond to them. “Under no circumstances should the link provided be opened or personal data disclosed.”
Raiffeisenbank also warns customers about phishing emails. Fraudsters try to obtain their victims’ bank details and siphon off money in various ways. The mail is labelled with the Raiffeisen logo and has a design that looks deceptively similar to Raiffeisen’s.
The text then reads: “Dear customer! Our system has detected unauthorised activity on your account. The payment was not sent successfully due to our blocking system.” The payment of (a four-digit sum is mentioned) euros should be refunded, and therefore, the link below should be clicked. However, Raiffeisen emphasises that official notifications would only be sent via the encrypted ELBA page.
