After the cold snap in Austria, the early summer weather is set to return. According to the forecast from Geosphere Austria, temperatures of up to 29 degrees are expected on Tuesday before a low-pressure system brings back heavier clouds, rain and cooling. However, the start of the week on Monday will continue to be dominated by the southerly high-altitude current and high air pressure on the ground.

High-pressure weather on Tuesday
The high-pressure weather will continue on Tuesday. It will remain very sunny, and thin clouds will occasionally pass in high layers. According to the geosphere forecast, temperatures will reach early summer levels with a southerly wind current. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from southeast to south during the day in foreign valleys on the northern and eastern sides of the Alps and in the north. 5 to 13 degrees are expected in the morning and 22 to 29 degrees during the day.

1 May brings dense clouds and some rain
On the bank holidays, 1 May on Wednesday, weak low pressure from the west between Vorarlberg and Upper Carinthia will bring thick clouds and some rain. The area south of the main Alpine ridge will be particularly affected. The rest of the country will remain sunny and warm in early summer. A strong southerly wind will continue to blow. The thermometer will climb to between five and twelve degrees in the morning, with temperatures between 20 and 27 degrees during the day.

Thicker cloud cover on Thursday
On Thursday, a weak low-pressure system centred over western Austria will bring denser cloud cover, rain, showers, and brief thunderstorms. Areas in the west and south of the country will be particularly affected. East of the Innviertel and the Wechsel region, it will remain mostly precipitation-free and sunny. The Föhn wind will break down in the west, with persistent brisk to strong winds from the southeast to east on the eastern edge of the Alps and in the north. Early temperatures will be between six and twelve degrees, with daytime highs of 18 to 25 degrees.

Friday starts cloudy and overcast
The end of the working week will begin cloudy and, in many cases, overcast. This is due to the influence of low pressure in the eastern Alps. There will be widespread rain showers, sometimes with thunderstorms. There will be persistent rain in the mountains. The snow line will drop 1,500 metres above sea level in the west. In the afternoon, the southeast and east clouds will somewhat clear again, with most showers subsiding. The centre of precipitation will shift to the west. Moderate to light winds will blow from different directions. According to the forecast, early temperatures will be between four and 13 degrees, with daily highs from west to east between four and 18 degrees.
