Under the influence of a low-pressure system south of Austria, the weather on Thursday will be pretty unsettled. In addition to sunny spells, compact clouds will appear repeatedly, and from East Tyrol eastward to the Most and Waldviertel, the tendency for rain showers significantly increases. Individual thunderstorms are also expected in the afternoon, especially towards the east. The day will be sunnier and mostly dry along the northern side of the Alps and in the north-west. The wind will blow weakly to moderately along the northern side of the Alps, north and east, and quite briskly from southeast to west. Early morning temperatures will be between 5 and 15 degrees, and afternoon temperatures will be between 15 and 24 degrees.
Significantly cooler
On Friday, Austria will continue under the influence of a low-pressure vortex over the Mediterranean. The day will often be cloudy, and in many regions, it will rain intermittently from the morning onwards, mainly in the form of showers. Localized thunderstorms may also develop in the afternoon after brief sunny spells. The snow line will drop to around 1500 metres above sea level in the west; otherwise, it will still exceed 1800 metres. The wind will blow weak to moderate from mainly west to north-west, with a moderate easterly wind blowing towards the east. Temperatures in the morning range from 6 to 12 degrees, and in the afternoon, from 14 to 21 degrees.
On Saturday, the influence of the disturbances will slowly decrease. In the morning, there will be lots of clouds and some rain showers, in the afternoon, the showers will retreat to the mountains and the sun will appear more often away from the mountains. Early morning temperatures are five to twelve degrees, and daytime highs are 17 to 22.
Mostly sunny, but not entirely stable, weather is on the cards for Sunday. Especially in the west and south, as well as in the mountains, spring clouds will increase during the day, which will develop into localised rain showers in the afternoon. In the lowlands, however, it will remain predominantly dry, and sunshine will predominate. The maximum daily temperature will be the same as the day before.
