New infections continue to rise and the predicted 4,000 new infections may not be far off. From Friday to Saturday, there are 3,498 new Corona infections in Austria.
There are also 31 new deaths related to Covid 19 infection. Since there are “only” 2,876 new recoveries, the number of active cases also increases to 35,591. The 7-day incidence also increases to 251.05.
Currently, 2,156 people are receiving hospital care for Corona virus. Of these, 504 are being cared for in intensive care units.
Eastern Austria locks down over Easter – at least once – because of the persistently high infection rates.
The situation in Austria has been tense for weeks. There can be no talk of easing the situation so quickly: experts are forecasting an increase to an average of 4,100 new infections per day by the middle of next week. On March 31, there will already be 4,500 new cases. A seven-day incidence of 328 per 100,000 inhabitants is also expected then.
