The numbers of new Corona infections in Austria continue to stagnate at – too-high levels. According to AGES, “only” 1,656 new conditions were detected on Sunday, with a weekly average of 4,699 per day.
On Christmas Eve, however, there were 4,260, and on Friday, 4,853 more infections with SARS-CoV-2.
Fewer than 1,700 new Corona infections were reported Monday.
The seven-day incidence was 364.4 infections per 100,000 population on St. Stephen’s Day. This was the lowest of the weekend, compared with 376.4 on Christmas Day and 366.8 on Christmas Eve. On Monday morning, 1,166 infected people were in the hospital, one more than on Sunday. The number of intensive care patients with Covid-19 remained unchanged at 63.
More than 21,300 Corona deaths
Three deaths were reported Sunday. This brings the total number of Corona deaths in Austria to 21,373, although there are always time delays in reporting. Last week, 55 people died after being infected with Corona. There are currently 48,260 laboratory-confirmed active cases, down 2,413 from the previous day.
