The key points on compulsory vaccination

The federal government on Sunday presented the final draft of the general vaccination obligation planned to take effect in February 2022. Compulsory vaccination is to apply to all persons residing in Austria aged 18 or older. Exceptions are planned for pregnant women and those who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons, as well as for convalescents (for 180 days). On Sunday, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior reported 15,419 new cases within 24 hours. This is the highest ever reported on a Sunday by the authorities since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The Covax international vaccine program hit the billion-dose mark in CoV vaccine deliveries Saturday. The milestone was announced by Gavi, the vaccination alliance of governments, companies, foundations and UN agencies that runs the Covax program. The one billionth dose was in a shipment that arrived in Rwanda yesterday, according to Gavi. Covax now supplied 144 countries. This means that currently about 45 percent of the total population has received a booster vaccination.
