Vienna. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober and the new State Secretary for Culture Andrea Mayer informed on Monday about further relaxation of corona measures in the cultural sector. After a brief overview of the current corona virus situation in Austria, Health Minister Rudi Anschober announced that leisure facilities, hotels and swimming pools will be allowed to reopen from 29 May.

Hard facts: Changes in the cultural sector

Indoor events with seats  –  1-meter minimum distance is strictly maintained. Use of mask is compulsory. From 29 May 100 participants are allowed. From 1 July, the maximum number of visitors allowed will increase to 250 SITTING participants. From 1 August, events with up to 500 people may be held indoors – if there are more than 500 guests, the organiser must present a hygiene concept. With a possible approval by the health authorities, up to 1,000 people may then participate.

Openair with seats –  There will be no compulsory masks in the outdoor area. From 1 July outdoor events with a maximum of 500 guests will be allowed – from August up to 750 or 1,250 people will be allowed to take part in outdoor events.

Events with standing room –  Both indoors and outdoors, the above-mentioned relaxations do not apply. As it is more difficult to control the minimum distance, the limit of 100 visitors will continue to apply – the 1-metre safety distance will still apply.
