The coronavirus is spreading at record speed in Germany. On Friday, the Robert Koch Institute, the responsible epidemic authority, reported more than 18,000 new infections in one day for the first time. According to the RKI, the health authorities reported 18,681 proven cases of infection within 24 hours. On Thursday the figure was 16,774.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, a total of 499,694 infections have been registered. The number of people who died with or from the virus rose by 77 to a total of 10,349. In the fight against the wave of infection, public life in Germany will be drastically restricted in November. This was agreed on Wednesday by the federal and state governments
