Almost a year after the outbreak of the corona pandemic, more and more symptoms are being attributed to Covid-19. If an infection initially seemed to have a similar effect to a common flu, the list of symptoms is becoming longer and longer. Head, nose, throat, lungs, heart, kidneys, stomach, intestines and even toes can be symptoms of corona.
Atypical corona symptom
Researchers have now discovered a sign that only occurs in men and can be particularly painful. The atypical Corona symptom became noticeable for the first time when a Turkish man complained of swelling and pain in the left groin area, which would extend into his testicles and stomach. According to media reports in the “Daily Mail”, the attending doctors quickly determined that the patient was corona-positive.
Strangely enough, however, the man did not have any other of the typical corona symptoms. The doctors were also able to rule out all venereal diseases and the like.
“Especially painful”
Not least because in a Chinese study, one in five of those tested corona-positive complained of pain in the genital area, doctors are now proposing to include this “unusual” and “particularly painful” symptom in the general list of Covid-19 symptoms. Since then, it has been suggested that men who complain of testicular pain should be tested for Covid-19, among other things.
However, according to reports in the Daily Mail, medical researchers have ruled out the possibility that the virus could enter the man’s testicles. So-called long-term damage to the sperm can therefore be largely excluded.
