The voluntary CoV mass tests for police officers will start on December 7. This will be a double test strategy, Interior Minister Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) told the APA today. This means that all employees will have the opportunity to be tested twice at intervals of one week. The Red Cross is a partner in this process, and the testing of a total of around 39,000 people is planned.
Nehammer described the dual testing strategy as “an attractive offer to provide more security and protection against the corona virus, especially in the pre-Christmas period”.
Testing will take place at the police station from December 7 to 10, and in the second tranche from December 14 to 17. Appropriate test capacities including buffers for about 85,000 antigen tests have been procured through the Bundesbeschaffung GmbH (BBG) and are to be delivered next week at the latest. Both the ministry’s own infrastructure and the Red Cross offices will be used.
Test for the mass test at the Austrian Armed Forces
Meanwhile, the Austrian Armed Forces demonstrated today in a sports hall in Korneuburg in Lower Austria with a sample street the course of the planned mass tests. The system is to be used for the examination of the Lower Austrian teaching staff on December 5 and 6.
