Just over 3,000 new corona infections – 141 deaths

With 3,033 new infections on Tuesday, the trend is further decreasing in a week-on-week comparison after two weeks of lockdown, almost twice as many, namely 5,805 persons recovered, according to data from the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health. However, there were 141 more deaths, a new record – meaning that 3,325 people throughout Austria died with the coronavirus.

With 54,667 active cases, the number of active cases has again decreased significantly, and the number of intensive care patients has also decreased slightly. This fell by ten people to 691, 4,482 people were in hospital with Covid-19 in total, an increase of 142 compared to Monday, but 207 fewer in a weekly comparison.

Of the 3,033 new infections throughout Austria, most came from Vienna, where 665 new infections were reported. Upper Austria followed with 593, followed by Styria with 401 and Tyrol with 383 new infections. Next came Lower Austria (366), Salzburg (266), Carinthia (195), Vorarlberg (103) and Burgenland with 61 positive test results.

In total, the results of 23,192 PCR tests were announced on Tuesday. The proportion of positive test results in the seven-day average was almost 16 percent. The seven-day incidence dropped from 360.9 on Monday to 345.8. 558.7 was the value two weeks ago, at the beginning of the second lockdown.
