In the midst of the worldwide fight against the coronavirus, the United Nations has created the “International Day for Epidemic Preparedness”. This is to take place annually on December 27, according to a resolution passed yesterday. On this day, people should be sensitized to the dangers of epidemics, for example through information events, and preparations for such epidemics should be reviewed.
The resolution was adopted immediately before the first anniversary of the beginning of the CoV pandemic: On December 8, 2019, the first diseases were discovered in Wuhan, China, which were subsequently classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the first infections with the novel coronavirus Sars-CoV-2. Since then, around 67 million people worldwide have become infected and more than 1.53 million people have died.
