Austria is currently receiving 63,000 vaccine doses per calendar week to protect against coronavirus infection. By the end of this week, a total of about 126,000 doses of vaccine will have arrived. As of today, Tuesday, 8,360 doses have been delivered. These figures were announced by the Ministry of Health at noon Tuesday.
The majority of the 8,360 doses are likely to have already been injected. “They must be vaccinated immediately after allocation,” a spokesman for the Ministry of Health said in this regard. According to the statement, the delivered vaccine doses were divided among the 17 logistics centers of pharmaceutical wholesalers and then delivered to the designated facilities with prioritized vaccination needs – nursing homes and Covid wards in hospitals hospitals.
Of the 8,360 doses, Vienna has received 2,800. 2,690 have gone to Lower Austria, 890 to Salzburg, 525 to Vorarlberg and 485 to Tyrol. 460 has received Upper Austria, 300 Carinthia, 170 Burgenland and 40 Styria.
As the Ministry of Health stressed, as of today, Tuesday, it is possible for about 900 care facilities and hospital providers to order vaccines directly from the Federal Procurement Agency (BBG). The orders are processed via the e-shop of the BBG.
