According to the published decree, Austria extends border controls with the Czech Republic and Slovakia for another two weeks.
On Sunday, the extension of the lockdown in Austria was announced until February 8 (for now). Now the border controls to the two neighboring countries Czech Republic and Slovakia, which were introduced ten days ago, have also been extended for another two weeks. The borders to these two countries are thus to continue to be controlled up to and including February 7. This is stated in the corresponding published decree.
The reason for this is the very high infection figures in these two countries. The Czech Republic recorded a massive increase in new infections in the past two weeks. The 7-day incidence value in the middle of last week was just under 800. In Austria, this value is currently 123. In the case of Slovakia, the mutation of the coronavirus in particular is causing concern, Health Minister Anschober described last week. In Slovakia, too, the lockdown has now been extended until February 7.
A new amendment to the Covid 19 entry regulation also brings since last Friday a mandatory electronic registration (“Pre-Travel Clearance”) before an entry into Austria – “Today” reported. In principle, all persons entering Austria since then have to register online.
There are individual exceptions to the registration requirement, for example, for regular commuters, for transit travelers or for persons who enter Austria for family reasons that are particularly worthy of consideration and cannot be postponed.
