Vaccination campaign in Austria has started. According to Minister Anschober, as of Tuesday 140,000 vaccinations have already been carried out.
“The roll-out of vaccinations in Austria is making great progress, the tolerability of the vaccine is very good and the willingness to vaccinate is increasing significantly,” Health Minister Rudi Anschober is pleased with the development of the Austrian vaccination campaign.
After the official vaccination start last Monday, the daily vaccination numbers are now increasing: already Sunday evening the limit of 100,000 vaccinations was exceeded, Tuesday evening the Ministry of Health already expects around 140,000 vaccinations to have been carried out. By 1:30 p.m. Monday, 102,790 vaccinations had been administered, according to the live dashboard forecast on the ministry’s website.
By the end of this week – according to the available registrations in the e-shop – the vast majority of nursing homes and homes for the elderly should have completed the first round of vaccination. At the same time, the second round has already been started in the first old people’s and nursing homes.
After completion of both vaccinations in mid-February, the currently most vulnerable group of residents in nursing homes will be well protected. The result should be a significant decrease in Corona-related deaths in nursing homes and homes for the elderly. The first particularly important goal of Austria’s largest vaccination campaign to date will thus be achieved.
