On Tuesday, the values of new infections in Germany decrease noticeably compared to the previous week. The number of deaths is also decreasing, as are the seven-day incidence and the R-value. The nationwide incidence of 100 is slowly coming into view.
Health departments in Germany reported 6125 new Corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. This is according to figures from Tuesday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard as of 05:20. For comparison, a week ago the figure had been 7534 new infections.
According to the RKI, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants reported within seven days was 115.4 nationwide on Tuesday morning (previous day: 119.1; previous week: 141.4). Across Germany, 283 new deaths were recorded within 24 hours, according to the data. A week ago, there had been 315 deaths.
R-value remains well below 1
The RKI counted a total of 3,533,376 confirmed infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic, but the actual total number is likely to be significantly higher because many infections are not detected. The RKI gave the number of those who recovered as about 3,196,900. The number of people who died from or with the involvement of a confirmed infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 85,112.
The nationwide seven-day R score was 0.88 (previous day: 0.90), according to the RKI situation report Monday evening. This means that 100 infected people mathematically infect 88 more people. The R-value represents in each case the infection occurrence 8 to 16 days ago. If the R-value is below 1 for a longer period of time, the number of infections is decreasing; if it is continuously above 1, the number of cases is increasing.
