From yesterday to today, 93 new infections were registered in Austria. That’s up from the average of 67 over the past seven days, but the seven-day incidence dropped to 5.3 cases per 100,000 population.
No other Covid-19-related deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. That no one had died from or with Covid-19 was last on June 21, and before that on June 10. The seven-day average was 1.4 deaths per day. Ten deaths have been recorded in the past seven days. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 10,709 lives in Austria since its outbreak. Per 100,000 population, 119.9 people have died from or with Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
There are currently 141 people in hospital due to Corona infection, which is twelve fewer than on Friday. Forty-six people are being cared for in intensive care units. That number dropped by five in one day and is down by 26 patients in one week.
Currently, 1,786 people were actively infected with SARS-CoV-2 as of Saturday. That’s down 42 cases from Friday. The last time there were this few was in August of the previous year. On August 14, 2020, that number was 1,652; just a few days later, the figure jumped to more than 2,000.
As of Friday, 105,010 vaccinations have been administered. In total, 4,820,911 have already received at least a partial vaccination, according to E-vaccine passport data. That’s 54 percent of the total population. 3,272,220, or 36.6 percent of Austrians, are already fully immunized.
According to Friday’s figures, the first-time vaccination rate is highest in Burgenland, at 59.8 percent. In Lower Austria, 58.7 percent of the population is vaccinated, and in Tyrol, 54.2 percent. After Styria (53.6), Vorarlberg (53.5), Carinthia (52.2), Salzburg (51.6) and Vienna (50.9), Upper Austria brings up the rear with a vaccination coverage rate of 49.5 percent.
In the past 24 hours, 571,433 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported. Of these, 82,463 were meaningful PCR tests. The positive rate of these PCR tests was down to 0.1 percent. More than 70 million Corona tests have been performed since the pandemic began.
Since the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in Austria, 650,662 people have contracted the virus. 638,167 have recovered. Within the past 24 hours, 135 were considered recovered.
