From Sunday to Monday, 192 new infections with the coronavirus were reported in Austria. That is as many as on Friday. No new deaths associated with Covid 19 infection have been reported.
The number of active cases in the country rose to 2,116 reported cases. This is almost 400 more than a week ago. To date, there have been 651,804 positive test results in Austria. As of today, 10,723 people across Austria have died as a result of the coronavirus and 638,965 have recovered. Currently, 103 people are in hospital care due to the virus. Of these, 35 are being cared for in intensive care units.
The number of new infections (incidence) averaged 141 daily last week, with a seven-day incidence per 100,000 population of eleven cases at the start of the week, up from just under ten on Sunday. Also the reproduction number was recently on the rise. The experts of AGES and TU Graz had calculated it for July 7 with 1.03, after 0.86 in the week before. With a value starting at 1.0, an endemic spread of the infection is evident.
Vaccinations: Five million mark surpassed
28,527 vaccinations were performed in Austria on Sunday. In the entire previous week, there were slightly more than 479,000 stings, and on Saturday the five-million mark was exceeded. In total, 5,029,943 people received at least a partial vaccination, or 56.3 percent of the total population, according to E-vaccination data. 3,726,963, or 41.7 percent of the population, are already fully immunized.
