Because of theDelta variant, the7-day incidence has been rising again since July. As of Thursday, there were 3,378 active Corona cases in Vienna.
Since May, the7-day incidence in Vienna fell steadily in all age groups. As of May 18, the 10- to 19-year-old group also fell below 100, and with small outliers, it went steadily downward from then on. Now – due to the highly contagious delta variant – things are looking up again: since July, the figures have been on the rise again. Across all age groups, the 7-day incidence on Thursday was already back at 31.8 corona cases per 100,000 inhabitants, after reaching a low of 16.5 on June 30. Nationwide, the incidence on Thursday was 17, and the trend is upward.
Two age groups show sharp increases in Vienna:
➤ Among 20- to 29-year-olds, the incidence climbed in a steep curve from 26 on June 30 to 78 on July 14.
➤ Likewise for 30- to 39-year-olds. Here, the 7-day incidence more than doubled from a low of 14 on July 2 to 32 on July 14.
Overall, there were 3,378 (+ 70) active corona cases in Vienna on Thursday. Fifty-two patients were hospitalized, 18 of whom were in intensive care.
