Coronavirus infections in Europe have become the first region in the world to break through the 50 million registered infection cases mark, according to a count by Reuters news agency.
One million new infections are added about every eight days, and there have been nearly 1.3 million deaths since the pandemic began. Europe continues to be heavily affected by the pandemic, accounting for 27 percent of infections and 31 percent of deaths worldwide.
