From Saturday to Sunday, 1,121 new infections were reported in Austria.
So far, there have been 676,526 positive test results in Austria. As of today, 10,762 people across Austria have died as a result of the coronavirus and 653,564 have recovered. Currently, 334 people are in hospital care due to corona virus. Of these, 69 are being cared for in intensive care units.
The number of hospital patients infected with corona virus and requiring treatment has thus more than doubled in two weeks. On August 8, the figure still stood at 146. At that time, 40 covid patients were in intensive care units – the current figure is 69, most of them in Vienna (18), followed by Lower Austria (14) and Styria (eleven).
Seven-day incidence at 87.3
The current seven-day incidence – new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – is currently 87.3. The province with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Vienna with 114.7, followed by Upper Austria, Vorarlberg and Salzburg (104.7, 97.7 and 94.3, respectively). This is followed by Tyrol (75.8), Styria (71), Lower Austria (70.3), Carinthia (54.6) and Burgenland (50.3).
