From Sunday to Monday, 1,077 new Corona infections were registered in Austria. This is the highest Monday figure since the beginning of May.

The now 1,077 new infections are below the average of the past seven days, here there were 1,157 new cases daily. However, if you look at the figures for the previous Mondays, it becomes clear how steeply the curve is going upwards. On August 16 there were 774 new cases, on August 9 450 and four weeks ago there were 312 more infected people within 24 hours.

There is also one new death to report related to Covid-19 infection, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 10,763 so far.

The number of active cases increases by 285 to 12,485. The seven-day incidence rises to 90.97.

In the past 24 hours, 67,877 PCR tests have been performed, with a positive rate of 1.59 percent.

There are currently 373 people in Austria’s hospitals linked to covid disease, up 39 from the previous day. 77 patients are in intensive care – eight more than the day before.

Vaccinations
Vaccinations are progressing at an increasingly sluggish pace in Austria. On Sunday, only 7,317 vaccinations were carried out. Exactly four weeks ago, there had been 28,253 stings. A total of 5,441,273 people have now received at least one partial vaccination, according to the E-vaccination passport data: That’s 60.9 percent of the population. Exactly 5,122,676, or 57.3 percent of Austrians, have already been fully immunized.

The highest initial vaccination rate is in Burgenland with 68 percent. In Lower Austria, 63.7 percent of the population has been vaccinated at least once, and in Styria 61 percent. After Tyrol (60.1), Vienna (59.3), Vorarlberg (59.1), Carinthia (57.5) and Salzburg (57.2), Upper Austria brings up the rear with a first-time vaccination rate of 56.4 percent.
