Of the nearly 10,000 CoV infections, 9,476 were exact in calendar week 34 (August 23-29), the proportion of cleared source of infection was 70.7 percent, again more than two-thirds, as in the previous five weeks.
While travel-associated cases decreased to 30.2 percent (down 9.6) compared to the previous week, nearly half of new infections again occurred in households, with a 48.1 percent share.
As the current epidemiological Covid-19 clarification of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) shows, this development occurred even more strongly in Vienna, where the majority of the 2,675 cases, 53.9 percent, can be attributed to households.
This is critical in that in this cluster, where members infect each other, rather little can be done in combating the spread of the virus, since the introducing source is usually unknown. Throughout Austria, the proportion of asymptomatic cases decreased slightly from 28.5 percent to currently 26.5. A total of 4,959 cluster cases were counted.
