On Wednesday, the government presented new Corona measures. Now the ordinance is ready: 3G rule also applies to private parties.
Corona numbers continue to rise dramatically in Austria. Also in the hospitals more and more beds are occupied. The government therefore announced on Wednesday a new package of measures for the fall.
It is a step-by-step plan that is linked to a factor, namely the nationwide utilization of intensive care units with Corona patients. Depending on the “percentage hurdle,” i.e., whether 10, 15, or 20 percent of Corona patients fill ICUs, separate measures are envisioned.
For example, there will be a return to mandatory FFP2 masks, and antigen tests will only be valid for 24 hours. From an occupancy of 15 percent of intensive care beds, only vaccinated and recovered patients will be allowed to visit night catering and events.
The 3G rule will be more strictly controlled in the future. Also new in the regulation is that this measure also applies to private parties: “Gatherings with more than 25 participants are only permitted if all participants show proof in accordance with § 1 Para. 2. The participant must keep this proof available for the duration of the stay,” it says.
Gatherings in private residences are exempted, “with the exception of gatherings in places that do not serve to satisfy an immediate residential need, such as, in particular, garages, gardens, sheds or barns.”
So for backyard parties or gatherings in garages with more than 25 attendees, everyone should either be vaccinated, tested or recovered.
Gatherings and events with more than 100 attendees must be reported to the local county administrative agency. Participants must be either vaccinated, tested or recovered and provide their contact information.
