Corona numbers continue to be on the rise. CoV cases are currently piling up, especially among children and adolescents.
As autumn approaches, the Corona situation in Austria is getting worse. For several weeks, a constant increase in the number of new infections recorded daily has been observed. Most recently, the government presented a step-by-step plan to counteract the current trend in numbers.
The new tightening plan is primarily linked to one factor, namely the nationwide utilization of intensive care units with Corona patients. Depending on the “percentage hurdle,” i.e., whether 10, 15, or 20 percent of Corona patients fill ICUs, separate measures are envisioned.
Stage one rules now went into effect Wednesday (Sept. 15).
But Corona numbers were again at 2,364 new infections on Friday. Within just 24 hours, 12 Corona-related deaths were also reported nationwide.
A look at the situation in hospitals shows: Currently, 843 people are receiving hospital care for Corona infection. Of these, 202 are being cared for in intensive care units.
Corona currently affects children and adolescents the most. Currently, the 7-day incidence is highest in the 6-14 year old and 15-24 year old age groups.
Among 15-24 year olds, a 7-day incidence of 284.1 was recorded for that time period. This represents 18.3 percent of the cases recorded during that period.
According to AGES data, the 25-34 age group follows at a small distance with an incidence of 209.3. In the 35-44 age group, the 7-day incidence is 183.9, and in the 45-54 age group, 138.8.
If we look at the group of 55-64-year-olds, the value of incidence decreases significantly. Here it is 87.6. Oh in the older population groups the incidence is lower. Among 65-74 year olds, there was a 7-day incidence of 53.9 and among 75-84 year olds 58.4. In contrast, among the group of over 85 year olds, there is a slightly higher value of 71.9.
If we are talking about under-six-year-olds, the 7-day incidence here is 114.8.
