After the pupils, the coronavirus quarantine will now also be eased for the remaining future K1 contact persons. As the Ministry of Health announced in a press release, the official isolation period will be shortened from 14 days to ten days as of September 27. In addition, “free testing” by means of PCR tests for K1 contacts will then be possible from the fifth day of quarantine.

The previous procedure provided for such free testing from the tenth day of segregation at the earliest. “I have initiated this facilitation in the isolation of K1 contact persons because I consider it an important step for our social coexistence, given the duration of this pandemic,” said Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens).

Also the possible traffic restrictions of K2-contact persons are adapted: In the future, these can already be lifted on the fifth day, previously this was only possible from the tenth day. The Ministry’s guidelines for the official procedure for SARS-CoV-2 contacts are general guidelines for health authorities. However, the individual decision on seclusion is still up to the local health authorities on the spot.
