Those eligible for the third vaccination can choose between BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. We show how it works.
Since September 2, Vienna has been vaccinated for the third time. In line with the recommendation of the National Vaccination Panel, residents of Vienna’s more than 100 nursing homes will receive the third vaccination against Covid-19 during September and October. In the homes, people will be immunized either by employed physicians or by mobile vaccination teams.
The National Immunization Panel recommends a third shot starting six months after the second shot for people 65 and older, high-risk and at-risk patients, and people who have received the AstraZeneca and Johnson vaccine; a nine-month interval is recommended for healthy people. In addition, health care workers and nurses who already received their second vaccination in January or February/March can be vaccinated.
The two mRNA vaccines from BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna will be vaccinated. Those who qualify can register for the vaccine online at Impfservice Wien or by calling 1450.
You can choose which vaccine you will receive when you register online or specify by phone.
Data from the U.S. company Moderna has shown that a booster dose of their coronavirus vaccine works well against coronavirus variants. Another study that a Moderna vaccine is more effective than BioNTech in those not previously infected or in those previously infected.
