From Tuesday to Wednesday, 2,614 new Corona infections were registered in Austria. This figure is significantly higher than the average of 1,816 cases over the past seven days.
There are also 15 new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 11,135 so far. The number of active cases rises to 19,842, with a seven-day incidence of 142.79.
The province with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Upper Austria with 205.8, followed by Salzburg, Styria and Carinthia (201.9, 147.7 and 137.7, respectively). This is further followed by Lower Austria (135.9), Vienna (124.3), Burgenland (100.3), Tyrol (85.8) and Vorarlberg (62.6).
213 intensive care patients
There are currently 865 people in Austria’s hospitals related to covid disease, 15 fewer than the previous day. 213 patients are in an intensive care unit – five fewer than the day before. According to AGES, the utilization rate of intensive care beds with Covid patients is ten percent.
Vaccinations
In total, 5,795,548 people (64.88% of the total population) have received at least one Corona vaccination, according to E-vaccine passport data, of which 5,490,589 people (61.47%) have full vaccination protection.
A closer look at full immunization rates by age group shows: Among those aged 12 to 24, 50.2 percent are fully immunized; in the 25 to 34 age group, the rate is 59.6 percent; and among those aged 35 to 44, the rate is 65.2 percent. 69.6 percent of people ages 45 to 54 are fully protected against Covid-19, and 78.3 percent in the 55 to 64 group. Those ages 65 to 74 have a full immunization rate of 83.6 percent, those ages 75 to 84 have 88.5 percent and the 85-plus group has 88.5 percent.
The highest vaccination coverage rate (fully immunized) is in Burgenland, at 69 percent. In Lower Austria, 64.3 percent of the population is vaccinated, and in Styria, 62.3 percent. After Vienna (60.5), Vorarlberg (60.4), Tyrol (59.7), Carinthia (58) and Salzburg (57.8), Upper Austria brings up the rear with a vaccination coverage rate of 56.5 percent.
