216 intensive care patients currently. Eight new deaths linked to Covid-19.

From Thursday to Friday, 2,432 new Corona infections were registered in Austria. Compared to the previous week (1,878), the number of new infections is 554 higher.

The province with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Upper Austria with 226.6, followed by Salzburg, Lower Austria and Styria (212.1, 149.9 and 145.7, respectively). This is further followed by Carinthia (134), Vienna (125.6), Tyrol (110), Burgenland (90.2) and Vorarlberg (67.9).

There are also eight new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 11,151 so far. The number of active cases increased by 570 to 20,968, with a seven-day incidence of 151.31.

There are currently 873 people in Austria’s hospitals related to covid disease, up three from the previous day. 216 patients are in an intensive care unit – that is one less than the day before.

In the past 24 hours, 143,098 PCR tests have been performed, with a positive rate of 1.70 percent.

11,230 vaccinations

11,230 vaccinations have been performed on Thursday. In total, 5,806,508 people in Austria have already received at least one partial vaccination, according to E-vaccination passport data: That’s 65 percent of the population. 5,505,649 people, or 61.6 percent of people in Austria, are fully immunized.

The highest vaccination coverage rate (fully immunized) is in Burgenland, at 69.2 percent. In Lower Austria, 64.4 percent of the population has been vaccinated twice, and in Styria, 62.4 percent. After Vienna (60.7), Vorarlberg (60.5), Tyrol (59.8), Carinthia (58.2) and Salzburg (57.9), Upper Austria brings up the rear with a vaccination coverage rate of 56.7 percent.
