A lucky winner in France has cracked the biggest ever jackpot in the Euromillions lottery.
He can look forward to 220 million euros, as the AFP news agency learned Friday from the French lottery company Française des Jeux (FDJ). The lucky winner now has 60 days to report to FDJ and collect his winnings, he said.
This is the largest jackpot in the history of the European lottery since its inception in 2004, and the winning ticket bears the numbers 21, 26, 31, 34, 49 and the star numbers 2 and 5, according to FDJ.
Euromillions is played in the nine European countries of Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The last Super Jackpot was cracked in Switzerland in February 2021, with the winner receiving 210 million euros. In France, the previous record was set in December 2020, when a player won 200 million euros.
