This year’s free flu vaccination campaign starts today in Vienna: Until March 31, all people from the seventh month of life who have the center of life, education or work in the federal capital can be vaccinated.
A total of approximately 450,000 influenza vaccine doses are available, the city said. “We are very happy to be able to offer this campaign again this year, comprehensive, low-threshold and free of charge for the Viennese population,” advertised Health Councillor Peter Hacker (SPÖ) in advance for active use by the population. It is also a matter of keeping hospital capacities free.
Vaccination bim from December
In Vienna, not only residents with their main residence in the federal capital can be vaccinated. The goal, he said, is to achieve protection through the broadest and lowest-threshold offer possible in the city, in order to protect the elderly high-risk persons, risk groups with underlying diseases from the particularly dangerous double infections.
Those willing to be vaccinated have numerous options for the sting: at physicians in private practice, at one of the seven vaccination centers of the Health Service, at the Austria Center Vienna, at the vaccination centers of the health insurance companies, at medical facilities, nursing homes or homes for the elderly, social institutions as well as at company physicians. A vaccination bim will be in operation from December.
