11,889 new infections. 40 new deaths linked to Covid 19 infection.

After the negative record figures of the previous week, there is also a new, sad, record to start the new week. From Sunday to Monday there are 11,889 new infections in Austria. This is again the highest Monday value since the beginning of the pandemic. Since Monday is traditionally the lowest value of the week, the height of this also gives a good outlook in which direction it goes this week. Apparently further upwards.

Today’s new infections are once again above the average of 11,354 for the past seven days, and there are 116,861 active cases.

Hospitals are currently treating 2,455 patients in normal wards with an increase of 128 patients. In intensive care units, there are 441 patients with an increase of eight patients.

In addition, there are 40 new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 11,746 so far. In the past 24 hours, 351,815 new PCR tests have been performed. This results in a positive rate of 3.38 percent.

Due to technical problems with the reporting system, the figures came in very late today, Monday. In addition, according to information from the Ministry of Health, there are also problems with the epidemiological reporting system on which is already being worked.
