Last week, more vaccinations were carried out in Austria than at any time since the beginning of July. Admittedly, most of the 462,534 vaccinations were “third shots”, i.e. booster vaccinations for existing vaccination protection (272,371). But the 128,813 first-time vaccinations are also a peak not seen since the second week of July. The previous weekly record occurred at the beginning of May, when 333,324 people in Austria were vaccinated for the first time.
On Sunday alone, 36,839 people got vaccinated, 10,697 of whom got their first dose. As in the days before, most of the first vaccinations took place in Upper Austria
First vaccinations on Sunday:
Upper Austria 3,070
Vienna 2,172
Lower Austria 2,171
Carinthia 1,404
Tyrol 1,030
Salzburg 434
Styria 261
Burgenland 50
Vorarlberg 8
The figures could, of course, increase somewhat if vaccinations were subsequently entered in the E-vaccination certificate. Nevertheless, Upper Austria still brings up the rear in Austria with a vaccination coverage of 60.5 percent. Burgenland continues to lead with almost 72 percent. On average, 65 percent of people in Austria are vaccinated against the coronavirus – i.e. almost two out of three.
