Yesterday, Saturday, it was not at all easy to get one of the coveted parking spaces in in numerous shopping malls all over the country. In Shopping City Süd near Vienna, already 96 percent were occupied by mid-morning. “You can feel that there will be a lockdown again from Monday,” one custumer said.
For Burkhard Dünser, head of the Dornbirn shopping center, it was already clear in the morning: “This will be a very strong day.” Not only the fair city dwellers took the opportunity to once again quickly jump into the small gift store, the large electronics store or the sports store before the lockdown. “I bought some running shoes. Jogging is the order of the day over the next few weeks, not that the Lockdown flab will set in again,” Markus Gunz revealed. The shoe box under his arm, he walked through the crowd back to the car.
The shelves in the hardware stores were quickly emptied. The supermarkets were also plundered. Especially coveted: toilet paper!
RUSH ON STORES
The big shopping before the fourth lockdown
Decorative and building materials of all kinds have been particularly sought after in recent days. From sawn boards over tile glue up to the Christmas tree stand and Christmas balls everything was bought. In the next three weeks, there should be enough time for one or the other handicraft project – or for decorating the living room for Christmas.
Also the supermarkets were plundered country widely, freezers, vegetable – and fruit shelves emptied. Again high in the course was beside noodle courts the hotly desired toilet paper.
