ORF, Austrian Televion network is launching an immunization lottery to boost the meager Corona vaccination rate in Austria. Eligible to participate, according to a release, are people 18 and older living in Austria who have been or will be vaccinated against Covid-19 between Oct. 1 and Dec. 20, 2021. It doesn’t matter if it’s a first, second or third shot. Nearly 1,000 non-cash prizes will be raffled off – such as a prefabricated single-family home and an electric car.
The starting signal for the “Impflotterie Österreich – Wer impft, gewinnt” was given by ORF Director-General Alexander Wrabetz on Monday as part of a special edition of “Stöckl live”. Registrations are possible immediately and exclusively under https://werimpftgewinnt.orf.at. Name, address, telephone number and date of birth must be provided, but not proof of vaccination. This will only be checked in the event of winning the non-cash prizes provided by Austrian businesses. The winners will be announced on December 24 as part of the “Licht ins Dunkel” program on ORF 2. Until then, the public service media company will call for participation in the vaccination and lottery with its program offerings on TV, radio and online.
“Millions of people in Austria rely every day on the work of ORF journalists, who give their best 24 hours a day in all media to inform Austrians on the basis of scientific findings. But education and information are sometimes not enough to anchor the indispensable contribution of vaccination to pandemic control in as many people as possible,” Wrabetz was quoted as saying. For this reason, he said, the vaccination lottery is intended to provide additional motivation for those willing to be vaccinated. “But it is also about a big thank you to all those who have already been vaccinated or boostered,” the ORF boss said.
