Portugal is following Spain’s example and reducing the isolation period from ten to seven days. The reduction applies to infected people without symptoms and to people with a suspected corona infection that has not yet been confirmed. Austria does not count Spain or Portugal as a virus variant area. Therefore, 2G plus applies to entry into Austria. Persons entering Austria must present proof of vaccination or recovery and additionally a PCR test. Persons who have already received another vaccination dose (“booster”) are exempt from presenting a test.
The Greek Health Authority today registered 35,580 new infections. This is almost six times as many new cases as last Thursday (6,667). The government has therefore tightened the Corona measures. Among other things, starting today and until at least January 17, restaurants must close at midnight and limit places. There is an exception until 2:00 a.m. for New Year’s Eve. In addition, FFP2 masks must be worn in supermarkets, public transport and other public places.
New Year’s celebrations in restaurants, hotels, bars or clubs have been banned in the Indian megametropolis of Mumbai. Affected are gatherings of four or more people both indoors and outdoors. The ban is effective immediately and until January 7.
