There have already been more than two million confirmed cases of corona in Austria since the pandemic began. On Saturday, 2,027,604 cases were reported, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Interior. Within the past 24 hours, 32,258 new infections were added. Last week, 34,748 cases were counted on Saturday. Therefore, the seven-day incidence also dropped from 2,564.2 to 2,536.4 cases per 100,000 population.
The number of new infections within one day is below the average of 32,366 cases in the past seven days. However, the number of active cases reached a new record of 343,333. This is 4,206 more than the previous day.
There was also an increase in hospital occupancy. Currently, 1,883 Covid 19 patients are in the hospital. That’s up 76 from Friday. 198 people require intensive care treatment. This number decreased by one patient since yesterday but has increased by 27 people in one week. 22 deaths have occurred in the past 24 hours. In the past seven days, 137 deaths have been recorded. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 14,214 lives in Austria since the outbreak.
