Today, Saturday, the 2G rule is no longer in effect in retail stores, and the FFP2 mask requirement still applies. The same applies to museums, art halls, libraries, etc. For body-related service providers, the law requires 3G and FFP2 masks. Night catering is still not possible. The closing time remains at 24 o’clock. Events without assigned seating over 50 people are only allowed if there is a ban on consumption, and the FFP2 mask is worn at all times.
These new Corona rules apply as of today
As of today, there is no longer a 2-G requirement in retail. This means that the 3-G-rule (recovered, vaccinated, tested) will be applied from now on. However, the FFP-2 mask obligation remains in force in retail, in all closed rooms, and public transport. The same applies to museums, art galleries, libraries, etc.
Also, for services close to the body, 2G is dropped, 3G and FFP2 obligations apply.
In addition, as of today, the personal limits at events are also extended. 2G applies. Events without assigned seats are allowed with more than 50 persons only if there is a consumption prohibition, i.e., the FFP2 mask is worn continuously.
As a reminder, there is also a longer closing time since February 5, in addition to the mandatory vaccination. This was shifted from 22 to 24 o’clock. Au
These relaxations are still coming
As of February 19, 2022, the 2-G rule in restaurants will be extended to the 3G rule – but not in Vienna. The federal capital is taking the more cautious route, and here the 2G rule in the catering trade will be retained for the time being.
Instead of vaccination or recovery, one can present a PCR test that is not older than 48 hours. If no PCR test is available, an antigen test valid for a maximum of 24 hours can be presented.
In the future, triple-immunized persons will not be considered in contact with an infected person. This also applies to doubly vaccinated children who cannot yet be boostered (in the case of 5- to 11-year-olds).
Even if everyone involved has worn an FFP2 mask, you are no longer classified as a contact person. Contact persons in critical infrastructure can continue to work with a valid PCR test (antigen test if necessary) and FFP2 mask.
Federal-state summit on Wednesday
At a Corona summit on February 16, Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP), Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler (Greens), Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens), state governors as well as experts from the Overall State Crisis Coordination (Gecko) will meet.
They will discuss upcoming easing steps starting February 19. What those will be is not yet known. Restrictions that could be lifted are currently still in place at events, leisure businesses, and schools.
