From Friday to Saturday, more than 30,000 new infections were reported. Specifically, 31,128 new infections were registered in Austria in the past 24 hours. This is just below the average of the past seven days of 31,587
Currently, 337,544 people in Austria are actively infected with the coronavirus. The seven-day incidence is 2,484.07. In the past 24 hours, 521,335 new PCR tests were performed. This results in a positive rate of 7.06 percent.
There are also 23 new deaths associated with Covid-19 infection to report. Thus, the pandemic has claimed 14,360 lives in Austria so far.
There are currently 2,032 people in the hospital – 42 fewer than yesterday. One hundred eighty-five people are being cared for in intensive care units, three fewer than the previous day.
Vaccinations
Only 17,634 vaccinations were administered across Austria on Friday. According to the E-vaccination passport data, a total of 6,780,335 people have already received at least one vaccination. Exactly 6,223,293 people, or 69.7 percent of Austrians, have a valid 2G record.
