The decreasing number of Corona infections is also causing the risk figure in Austria to fall. Nevertheless, all federal provinces and the entire country remain red on the Corona traffic light this week.

This means that Austria continues to have the highest risk level everywhere, according to the working document of the responsible commission published by the Austrian Press Agency (APA).

Vienna with best risk figure in Austria

The best risk figure, which also considers factors such as the age of the patients and vaccination status, is still Vienna with 189.4. Last week, it was still 229.8. This means it is still a long way to the border to the orange zone of high risk, which starts at 100. Carinthia has the worst value with 337.3. Tyrol has the best figures in pure case numbers, and Lower Austria the worst.

What is favorable is that coronavirus infections are decreasing everywhere in the 14-day trend, on average, by 22 percent. Although the decline is not as rapid among the over-65s, particularly at risk, the trend has been reversed with a minus of 3.1 percent. The exception is Vienna, with a plus of 7.3 percent.

Vienna with the most corona tests in Austria

However, the federal capital also has the highest number of tests. With almost 105,000 tests per 100,000 inhabitants, Vienna also achieved the best value in the past week. It will be interesting to see whether the infection figures in Vienna will decrease even more with the federal government’s restriction of testing as of April because a good two-thirds of the infection cases were asymptomatic at the time of testing in the national capital. In Tyrol, where the minor testing is done, only seven percent had no symptoms when they tested positive.

The positivity rate for all tests is highest in Salzburg and Vorarlberg, with eight percent. Vienna has the lowest with 2.7 percent. The district with the lowest incidence this time is Schwaz. The one with the highest rate in Eferding.
