Those who prefer to take their Corona test in Vienna’s pharmacies can look forward to April 11. From then on, you will be able to take your five free PCR tests there again.
Free PCR tests are soon possible again
On Monday, the Ministry of Health has agreed to this test possibility. In addition to pharmacies, the free PCR tests can also continue to be processed via “Alles Gurgelt,“ the gargle boxes, and test streets.
“I would prefer it to be even faster,” Viennese Health Minister Peter Hacker said. However, he said, the software first needs to be set up to allow pharmacies to check how many free tests are left of each user’s monthly quota. The linkage will then allow them to switch between offers in Vienna as they wish.
Handling of free Corona PCR tests by Vienna pharmacies: agreement necessary
For pharmacies to continue to handle the free PCR tests, the Chamber of Pharmacists and the large laboratory Lifebrain had to agree on cooperation. The pharmacies would act as subcontractors. The reason is the new regulation of the Ministry of Health, in which pharmacies no longer have a testing mandate from the federal government.
Vienna with unique selling point for Corona tests
With the new software, all free test offers (“Alles gurgelt,“ pharmacy, test street, gargle box) are centrally recorded in a common documentation system. According to Hacker, this will give Vienna “the only hybrid testing system in Austria” where you don’t have to think about where you’ve been testing and how often or where you have to choose one of the testing systems in advance spokesperson.
