8,033 new infections. Sixteen deaths were linked to Covid-19.
The fourth Corona wave continues to ebb, and for the first time since January 8, there are under 10,000 new infections within 24 hours. From Sunday to Monday, 8,033 new infections were registered in Austria. This is below the average of the past seven days of 13,680 conditions. The 7-day incidence is currently 1,075.80. The past 24 hours also marked the first time since Nov. 1, 2021, that PCR testing was below 100,000 in a single day. Yesterday, there were 91,626 tests. That translates to a positive rate of 8.77 percent.
Sixteen people have died in connection with Covid 19 infection. This brings the pandemic death toll to 16,242 so far.
Vaccinations
Not only has the number of new infections been low, but so has the number of vaccinations. 508 stings were given Sunday, the fewest since administrations began around the turn of 2020/21. Only 25 were first-time stings, along with 67 second and 416 third-time vaccinations. According to E-vaccine passport data, 6,818,418 people received at least one vaccination. Six million one hundred seventy-six thousand five hundred nine people, or 68.8 percent of the population, have proper vaccination protection. However, nearly 20,000 people let their vaccination certificate expire in the previous week without a required booster.
