From Sunday to Monday, 4,098 new infections were registered in Austria. This is below the average of 5,719 over the past seven days and is the lowest level of new cases in four months. Fewer new infections were last reported on January 3, with 3,319 new cases. Currently, 75,108 people in Austria are actively infected with the coronavirus.
The seven-day incidence is 449.77, with 66,867 new PCR tests performed in the past 24 hours. This results in a positive rate of 3.78 percent.
There are also nine new deaths associated with Covid-19 infection to report. The pandemic has thus claimed 18,170 lives in Austria.
Currently, 1,205 people are being treated in hospitals. That is 24 fewer than on Sunday. A month ago, there were more than twice as many patients. Ninety people are receiving intensive care, seven more than the previous day. Since last Monday, there was a decrease here around 27 percent and 34 patients before four weeks had it still 226 seriously ill ones been.
Throughout Austria, 397 Corona vaccinations were administered on Sunday. Of these, only 15 were first-time inoculations.
