From Monday to Tuesday, 11,758 new infections were registered in Austria. However, the number is slightly below the 7-day average of 11,854 infections. The 7-day incidence rises to 932.25.
This brings the number of active Corona cases to 122,391. Ninety thousand seventy-six new PCR tests were made in the past 24 hours. This results in a positive rate of 13.05 percent.
There are also 24 new deaths. This means that 18,958 people with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died across Austria.
In the hospital, 1,489 people are currently being treated, 112 more than the previous day. In intensive care units, there are 90 patients, 14 more than on the last day.
Vaccinations
Two thousand thirty-six vaccinations were given on Monday. Of those, only 91 were first shots, 172 were second shots, and 1,773 were third shots. According to E-vaccination data, 6.8 million people, or 75.7 percent of the population, have already received at least one vaccination. Almost 5.4 million people, or 60.1 percent of Austrians, have valid vaccination protection.
The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland with 68.3 percent. In Lower Austria, 63.8 percent of the population have valid vaccination protection, and in Styria, 61.6 percent. After Vienna (58.4), Tyrol (58.1), Carinthia (57.2), Vorarlberg (56.6), and Salzburg (56), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 55.4 percent.
