As of May 20, 2023, the mileage and consumption data of vehicles registered for the first time as of January 1, 2021, must be recorded in the course of the §57a appraisal. The latter is to determine whether the consumption values measured during vehicle approval are also adhered to in reality.
Vehicle impoundment for extreme speeding
in 2023, the 34th amendment to the StVO could see the confiscation of vehicles and the auctioning of motor vehicles in cases of excessive speeding. Drivers should always be deprived of their driver’s license on the spot in the event of massive speeding. The draft law is under review until January 20. It is not yet clear when the new regulation will come into force.
Theft-relevant automotive components for all workshops
SERMI is scheduled to go online in August 2023: SERMI (Security-related Repair and Maintenance Information) is intended to provide independent workshops with standardized access to the repair of theft-relevant components (keys, locks, immobilizers). This is a milestone in maintaining the freedom of choice of the repair shop, as access restrictions to vehicle electronics make the work of independent repair shops more difficult.
