Inflation and high energy costs are major challenges for many Austrians. Things can get particularly tight financially if a notebook or microwave oven breaks down. The good news is that the repair bonus can still be applied in 2023: up to 200 euros – and so even several times a year.
Since 2022, people residing in Austria have been able to apply for support in the event of unexpected additional costs – in this case, the repair of an appliance. Also, this year, there is this possibility on the part of the climate protection ministry. If a device gives up the ghost, an application can be made on reparaturbonus.at.
The money is paid directly after the voucher has been issued to the company commissioned to carry out the repair. It covers 50 percent of the repair costs up to 200 euros.
But beware: the bonus can only be claimed for repairs in one of the partner businesses. All eligible stores can be viewed on the bonus website. The repair bonus can be claimed twice yearly but only once per device. Suitable appliances include smartphones, computers, kitchen appliances, lawnmowers and other electrical appliances. One hundred thirty million euros has been budgeted for the repair bonus up to 2026.
